Hello everyone,
My name is Emiliano, I’m an AWS Cloud Architect with a career in IT that goes back to the year 2000.
My journey started as a Developer, then evolved through roles such as Linux System Administrator and DevOps Engineer, ultimately leading me to Cloud Architecture, which is now my main focus and passion.
Over the past 25 years, I’ve witnessed the tech world change dramatically, and my enthusiasm for IT remains as strong as ever. It’s been fascinating to experience firsthand how much the industry has evolved—from a time when resources were limited mostly to books, chat rooms, and a few scattered websites (Stack Overflow wasn’t even around yet!), to today’s world filled with powerful GenAI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, and Copilot.
Now that I’m 46, I appreciate having these innovative tools available. They help me stay sharp, continuously learn, and remain effective in my work. I’m excited to keep growing and adapting with technology, and I’m glad you’re here to join me on this journey.
Why Sgrilux?
I’ve always wanted a cool nickname, but I couldn’t find one that truly resonated with me. So, I combined my last name with my first passion when I started in IT—Linux—and “Sgrilux” was born.
Why this blog?
I honestly can’t count how many times I’ve started a blog only to eventually abandon it. Even though I love my job, I’m not the type of person who spends hours after work coming up with blog posts.
But this time feels different (I have a déjà vu! :) ). I’m still a bit lazy, so I’ll keep it simple — sharing occasional posts (also available on Medium), thoughts, and interesting projects.
Hobbies
When I’m not working, I enjoy spending quality time with my wife, watching countless movies and TV series—especially crime dramas, sci-fi, and fantasy. Sometimes, though, I just need to switch off, relax on the sofa, and enjoy something lighthearted or downright silly.
I work out 4–6 days a week. Like many others, I picked up exercising during Covid times, but it quickly became a significant part of my routine. Initially, I focused on weightlifting, but recently I’ve discovered Calisthenics. At this stage in my life, I’ve realized it’s more important to prioritize mobility and flexibility rather than chasing bigger muscles.
